How did the players fare in Sunderland’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town?
SUNDERLAND (4-1-4-1):
7 Patterson: Made a couple of routine saves and dealt with Huddersfield’s balls into the box – didn’t have a chance with the goal
6 Hume: Was restored to the right-back berth, but struggled to keep tabs on the lively Headley in the second half
6 Batth: Threw his body in the way of a couple of decent Huddersfield efforts and has plugged on manfully all season
6 O’Nien: Was thrust back into a centre-half spot, and showed his usual levels of commitment, even if he didn’t always use the ball effectively
6 Gooch: Found himself shuffled across to left-back to cover for the suspended Cirkin and gave his all
6 Neil: Was left somewhat isolated as he made his 100th Sunderland appearance and couldn’t halt the flow of Huddersfield attacks after the break
6 Amad: Should really have scored when the ball dropped his way in the first half – couldn’t really find his shooting range
5 Roberts: Wasn’t a night he was able to make a telling impact against the opposition defence – tended to run down blind alleys
5 Pritchard: Seemed to run out of legs in the second half and didn’t really dovetail with Neil at the heart of midfield
6 Clarke: Caused the occasional problem down the left-hand side, but wasted a couple of decent positions
7 GELHARDT: Led the line energetically all night and opened the scoring with an excellent long-range finish
Subs:
Lihadji (for Gelhardt, 73)
Watson (for Roberts, 88)
Anderson (for Batth, 90)
(not used): Bass (gk), Taylor, Ekwah, Ba.
HUDDERSFIELD (3-4-1-2):
Vaclik 6; Lees 7, Helik 7, Pearson 6; Ruffels 6, Diarra 6, Kasumu 7, HEADLEY 8; Rudoni 7; Koroma 7, Ward 6.
Subs (not used): Balkopic (gk), Hungbo, Edmonds-Green, Jackson, Lowton, Waghorn, Rhodes.
Man Of The Match: JAHEIM HEADLEY – The Huddersfield wing-back drove his side forward down the left-hand side in the second half.
