RILEY McGREE will undergo scans on an ankle injury as Middlesbrough’s injury problems continue to mount ahead of a potential play-off campaign.
McGree was not part of the squad for last night’s 5-1 thrashing of Norwich City after injuring his ankle in training this week.
It is hoped the Australian’s injury is not too severe, but the full extent of the problem will not be ascertained until Boro’s medical staff have completed a series of tests.
Boro head coach Michael Carrick said: “He (McGree) just picked up an ankle injury in training a couple of days ago.
“It was just one of those things really and we're just assessing that one at the moment and putting him through the relevant scans. We'll have to see how he is."
Aaron Ramsey is also set to have scans on his ankle this weekend after he was forced to hobble off in the first half of last night’s victory.

Having opened the scoring in the seventh minute, Ramsey was unable to continue after he was caught on the ankle while trying to skip a sliding challenge from Norwich full-back Max Aarons.
And to add to Boro’s injury worries, Marcus Forss was also substituted in the second half because of a problem sustained during the game.
Carrick said: “Marcus went off injured as well and we don't know how bad that is. That's football though, and that's why I speak all the time about the importance of the squad, which showed (last night).
“I don't like the injuries, they're blows obviously because they're really good players that we've lost over the last week or so, but we'll have to try and get them back as soon as we can.”
