MICHAEL Carrick says it's not yet clear how long Middlesbrough will be without the injured Dael Fry.

The defender missed Easter Monday's draw at Bristol City after picking up a knock in training and will be monitored in the coming days as Boro seek to discover the severity of the setback,

It's a blow for Fry, who has lost his place in the team to Paddy McNair in recent weeks and had only started one of the last five league games before the trip to Ashton Gate.

Carrick said: “He took a knock in training, so at this moment in time we’re still waiting to see.

"It was only in the last couple of days, so as of right now we don’t really know yet. We’re assessing him and we’ll have to make a call when we get back home tomorrow.”

In the absence of Fry, Boro again looked shaky at the back at Bristol City and conceded two bad goals, but fought back to snatch a 2-2 draw.

Attention now shifts to Friday's visit of Norwich City. Michael Carrick is next due to speak to the press on Wednesday afternoon.
