ALAN SHEARER blasted a crucial VAR decision that went against Newcastle United in this afternoon's 2-1 win over Brentford.
Having already awarded one penalty for a Sven Botman foul on Kevin Schade, referee Chris Kavanagh pointed to the spot again after a lengthy VAR review resulted in him being instructed to check his pitchside monitor after Alexander Isak caught Rico Henry in the area.
It took more than three minutes for the VAR to reach a ruling, and even then the decision to award a spot-kick was hardly clear-cut.
Ivan Toney scored from the spot to give Brentford the lead, having previously seen an earlier penalty saved by Nick Pope.
Shearer tweeted: "Never ever clear and obvious. Another long wait. B******t."
