NEWCASTLE UNITED goalkeeper Nick Pope has been withdrawn from the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount have also dropped out of Gareth Southgate's group for matches against Italy and Ukraine.
Fraser Forster has been called up as a replacement for the injured Pope but no further additions to the group are planned by Southgate.
Pope reported an injury after Newcastle’s Premier League win at Nottingham Forest on Friday and will not join up with the squad.
The problem is not believed to be too severe, and Pope should be available when Newcastle return to domestic action against Manchester United after the international break.
His absence means Tottenham’s former Newcastle goalkeeper, Forster, returns to the international fold for the first time in a year and will have a chance to add to his six caps.
England face Italy in Naples on Thursday before hosting Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday.
