7 Smith: Kept things tight on the right of Boro’s back four and tended to use the ball effectively when he had it
8 McNair: Returned to the side after recovering from concussion, and delivered a composed display in his protective mask
8 Lenihan: Another rock-solid showing from the central defender, who never allowed Swansea’s forward to get behind him
7 Giles: A couple of first-half crosses failed to find their intended target, but was always a threat down the Boro left
7 Howson: Outplayed Swansea’s midfielders and provided the platform that enabled his fellow midfielders to push forward
7 Hackney: Continues to ooze class and composure at the heart of the Boro midfield – is developing into quite some player
7 McGree: Made a series of telling breaks down the right and won the penalty that enabled Akpom to make things safe
8 Akpom: Another excellent attacking display was capped with his 22nd league goal of the season, which came from the penalty spot
8 RAMSEY: Caused a succession of problems with his pace and trickery, and showed commendable composure to stroke home the opener
8 Archer: Led the line impressively and claimed Boro’s second goal when he converted Hackney’s cross with a clinical header
