NICK POPE faces Wembley heartbreak next weekend as he will miss Newcastle United's Carabao Cup final with Manchester United.
Pope was sent off in the first half of this evening's Premier League game against Liverpool for handling the ball outside his area.
The Newcastle goalkeeper slid to the ground to try to cut out Alisson's long ball for Mo Salah, but appeared to misjudge the flight of the ball and instictively stuck out his hand.
The straight red card means he will be suspended for next weekend's Wembley final.
His absence creates a major headache for Newcastle boss as the club's second-choice goalkeeper, Martin Dubravka, is cup-tied having already played for Manchester United in the Carabao Cup this season.
Loris Karius is Newcastle's third-choice keeper, although the club also have Karl Darlow on loan at Hull City
