How did the players fare in Sunderland’s 3-0 win at QPR?
SUNDERLAND (4-4-2):
8 PATTERSON: Produced an excellent penalty save to deny Chair and helped his defenders by coming to claim crosses when QPR were on top
7 Hume: Kept things tight down Sunderland’s right-hand side and played a couple of excellent balls forward
8 Ballard: Won a succession of headers to prevent Martin from being able to make an impact and was an imposing presence at the back
7 Batth: Made some important tackles in the period when QPR were threatening and has formed an excellent partnership with Ballard
6 Alese: Got into some decent positions and made a couple of important blocks, but was waving his arm around as he conceded the penalty
7 Roberts: Played some incisive passes from the right-hand side and was a key part of Sunderland’s late counter-attacking threat
8 O’Nien: Opened the scoring with a close-range finish and tore here, there and everywhere to shut down QPR attacks
8 Pritchard: Ran the game for the opening hour or so, picking up pockets of space and threading balls through the QPR defence
6 Ba: Lined up on the left of midfield and offered a creative threat before the break before fading prior to his replacement in the second half
8 Clarke: Was pushed further forward to support Gelhardt and responded with two excellent late finishes to seal Sunderland’s win
7 Gelhardt: Is still to break his duck in a Sunderland shirt, but couldn’t have come much closer as he struck the crossbar in the second half
