AFTER four consecutive away games and eight weeks without a home fixture, Darlington Mowden Park finally return to the Darlington Arena tomorrow afternoon when they take on Rams in their rearranged National One game.
With freezing conditions having resulted in the original fixture being postponed a fortnight ago, Mowden now head into three home games on the bounce in what will be a busy month for the club.
"It's good to be back at the Arena finally and what better than meeting one of the top sides in the league at present in Rams," said Mowden director of rugby Garry Law.
"Recent results haven't gone our way this month and there is a lot of frustration as to why this has been the case.
"We are still hugely confident that we can beat anyone in this league but know our discipline and accuracy has to be there for the full 80 minutes."
When the fixtures were released in early June it was evident that January would be a tough month for Mowden with three away trips to some of the toughest sides in the league.
That proved to be the case, with a narrow defeat to Bishop's Stortford preceding losses at top-four sides Cambridge and Rosslyn Park.
All eyes now turn to February, with home games against Rams, Hull and Moseley and a short away trip to Mowden's closest rivals, Leeds Tykes, to round off the month.
"We now have a run of three home games in three weeks, which we have to target as must-wins," said Law.
"Hopefully, we can get plenty of support down to cheer the lads on as it makes a huge difference when you're up against it."
For tomorrow's game against Rams, Law makes five changes from the line-up that started against Rosslyn Park last weekend.
The only change in the backs sees Callum Mackenzie return to the starting line-up in place of Ewan Greenlaw. Mackenzie starts on the left wing, with Ollie Walker shifting into the centres to join Ben Frankland.
In the front row, there is a return for Max Fraine at hooker, while Talite Vaioleti makes his first start of 2023 at lock alongside the returning Dave Fisher.
Joe Craggs shifts to the back row, with Will Jones reverting to the openside flank.
