Newcastle take on Southampton in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday.

Here are all the details you need to know about the game…

WHERE IS THE GAME TAKING PLACE?

Newcastle were drawn as the away side when the two sides came out of the hat earlier this month, so they will be playing the first leg of their semi-final at Southampton’s home stadium, St Mary’s. The second leg is scheduled to take place at St James’ Park next Tuesday.

The Magpies will be hoping for a repeat of their most recent visit to St Mary’s, which saw them run out convincing 4-1 winners in November thanks to goals from Miguel Almiron, Chris Wood, Joe Willock and Bruno Guimaraes.

They will also be hoping for a similar outcome to Newcastle’s only previous appearance in the semi-finals of the League Cup, which came back in 1976. Back then, the Magpies lost the first leg of their semi-final against Tottenham 1-0 at White Hart Lane, but triumphed 3-1 in the second leg on Tyneside to secure a 3-2 aggregate win.

WHAT TIME IS KICK-OFF?

Tuesday’s game kicks off at 8pm.

ARE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE?

No – all 3,200 tickets for the away section at St Mary’s have been sold. Newcastle could easily have sold more, but that was the allocation they were given by Southampton.

A small number of tickets remain available for the return game at St James’ Park on Tuesday, January 31, with an online public sale due to begin at 10m on Tuesday, January 24.

IS THE GAME BEING TELEVISED OR STREAMED LIVE?

Tuesday’s game is being televised live on Sky Sports, and will be available on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football.

With the game being on Sky, there is no domestic streaming available.

BBC Radio Newcastle, BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT are providing live radio commentary, and The Northern Echo’s Scott Wilson will be at St Mary’s providing a live blog, report, ratings and post-match reaction.

WHAT IS NEWCASTLE’S LIKELY LINE-UP?

With no injury problems to have emerged in the wake of Saturday’s goalless draw at Crystal Palace, there is every chance Eddie Howe will name an unchanged starting side on Tuesday night.

Alexander Isak and Allan Saint-Maximin are both pushing for a start, having come off the bench at Selhurst Park, but neither is expected to make the starting line-up at St Mary’s.

Ryan Fraser is available for selection, having been left out of the squad at Palace, but Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Targett remain injury absentees.

Newcastle (probable, 4-2-3-1): Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Guimaraes, Longstaff, Willock; Almiron, Wilson, Joelinton.

HOW ARE SOUTHAMPTON SHAPING UP?

Southampton booked their place in the last four with a surprise quarter-final win over Manchester City, but were left disappointed at the weekend as they suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa.

Alex McCarthy, Armel Bella-Kotchap and Theo Walcott have all been missing through injury, but the trio have all been pushing to return to the squad against Newcastle.

However, Valentino Livramento and Juan Larios remain long-term absentees and are not expected to be involved.

Southampton (probable, 4-2-3-1): Bazunu; Lyanco, Caleta-Car, Salisu, Walker-Peters; Diallo, Lavia; Edozie, Ward-Prowse, Armstrong; Adams.
