Darlington's National League North match at Scarborough today was interrupted due to abusive comments from the crowd.
Quakers had just 3-0 gone up with an hour played when referee Dean Watson signalled for the players to leave the field at the Flamingo Land Stadium.
During the first half, assistant referee Emily Carney, who was running the line directly in front of the 820 Darlington fans, briefly interrupted play to speak to Watson.
At half-time a message asking supporters "of both sides" to refrain from using misogynistic and abusive language was twice read out over the public address system.
Carney swapped sides during the break, running the line in front of Scarborough supporters.
Nine minutes into the second half, however, after Jacob Hazel made it 3-0, Watson stopped play.
Players left the pitch for approximately 30 minutes, before returning to complete the fixture.
