7 Patterson: Could do little about goal. Good saves and commanded box well.

7 Hume: Grew into the game, linked up well with Amad.

6 Ballard: Troubled in first half but didn’t panic. Solid in second half. Would have been rested had Sunderland not been hit with illness and so many injuries.

6 Wright: Struggled to settle early on but grew into the game and got a grip of Blackpool’s attack.

6 O’Nien: Poor in the first half but Mowbray revealed afterwards he’d been ill and build-up and wasn’t expected to play.

7 Clarke: Final ball let him down in first half but influential in second half comeback. Created the goal.

6 Neil: Game passed him by in the first half but much improved after the break.

5 Michut: Struggled to get a grip of the Blackpool midfield. Replaced on the hour.

7 Roberts: Didn’t work for him first half but always on want for the ball. Busy throughout. Movement caused problems.

8 Amad: Had the beating of Blackpool’s defenders all game. Deserved a goal or assist.

7 Stewart: Sunderland couldn’t get him into game in the first half but came alive after the break.
