6 Steffen: Good save to deny Broadhead early on. Couple of shaky moments with distribution.
7 Smith: Will be disappointed with Wigan goal but otherwise solid.
7 Fry: Composed throughout. Won everything in the air.
8 Lenihan: Immense at centre-half. Two brilliant first half blocks. Deserved a clean sheet.
9 Giles: Wigan were terrified of his left foot from the off. Three assists – and could have had more.
7 Jones: Had the better of McClean in the first half. Quieter in the second.
7 Howson: Helped Boro take control alongside the excellent Hackney in the first half. Replaced at the break
8 Hackney: Another class performance. Bossed the game in midfield. Brilliant through-ball for second goal.
8 Watmore: Superb display. Positive and tireless throughout. Made the first goal and had the Wigan defenders on edge.
9 Akpom: Quiet in the first half but came alive after the break. Goals obviously make the headlines but his movement and link-up was terrific.
7 Forss: Got the ball rolling for Boro with the opening goal. Almost had a second after the break. Bright, confident display.
