SUNDERLAND manager Alex Neil has made eleven changes for tonight’s Carabao Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday from their 3-2 win over Bristol City.
Alex Bass replaces Anthony Patterson in goal for his debut while Jack Diamond has been handed his first appearance of the season.
Neil is sticking with the 3-5-2 formation but doesn’t have a registered striker on the pitch with Diamond set to partner Patrick Roberts in attack. Ellis Simms takes his place on the bench after scoring twice at the weekend.
Ross Stewart is out of the matchday squad but that is expected to be a selection choice from the manager.
The Black Cats make their first visit to Hillsborough since last season’s League One play-off semi final win over the Owls last May.
