NEWCASTLE United have handed a start to promising midfielder Elliot Anderson for tonight’s friendly match against Atalanta at St James Park.
The 21-year-old impressed during a loan spell with League Two Bristol Rovers last season and has been training with the Magpies first-team throughout pre-season.
Jonjo Shelvey misses the game through a hamstring injury while Joelinton’s red card keeps him out of tonight’s game.
There is no room in the matchday squad for Sven Botman who is expected to feature in tomorrow night’s friendly match against Atletico Bilbao.
Eddie Howe has named a young bench for this evening’s game with Mexican starlet Santiago Munoz amongst the substitutes.
