MIDDLESBROUGH have completed the signing of striker Marcus Forss from Brentford.

The Finland international has joined Boro on a four-year deal, and is set to go straight into the squad for Saturday's opening Championship game against West Brom.

The Forss is with Boro - and here's the lowdown on the club's sixth summer signing...

 

* Forss was both in Turku, in south-west Finland, and his grandfather, Rainer Forss, is a former Finland international


* Having started his youth career in Finland, with spells at  FC Ruskon Pallo, TuWe and the FDS-Suomi, Forss moved to England to join West Brom's academy at the age of just 13.


* His did not make a senior appearance for the Baggies, although he did play for West Brom's Under-21s in the group stage of the EFL Trophy. He was released from West brom in the summer of 2017, and signed by Brentford, where he was initially added to the Bees' B team squad.


* He was Brentford B team's Player of the Year in the 2017-18 season, and was promoted to the club's senior squad. In the following campaign, he claimed his first two senior goals.


* He signed a new four-year contract  with Brentford at the start of the 2019-20 season, before heading out to AFC Wimbledon on loan. He scored an impressive 11 goals in 19 appearances during his time with the Dons.


* His breakthrough season with Brentford was the 2020-21 campaign, when he helped the Bees win promotion to the Premier League. He scored ten goals over the course of the campaign, a tally which included the winner in the play-off semi-final against Bournemouth.


* He has won 14 senior international caps with Finland, scoring in a friendly win over France and a World Cup qualifier against Bosnia, and was part of the Finnish squad that competed in the finals of Euro 2020.
