MIDDLESBROUGH outcast Martin Payero has been pictured in Buenos Aires ahead of completing a move to Argentinian side Boca Juniors.

Argentinian media outlet TyC Sports has published pictures of Payero heading to his medical at Boca Juniors' training ground.

The midfielder flew into Buenos Aires' Ezeiza airport this morning, having been given permission to leave England by Middlesbrough officials.

Payero will sign a season-long loan deal with Boca Juniors, with the Argentinian club having agreed to a clause that enables them to trigger a permanent transfer next summer.

The exact financial details of the deal have not been made public, but it is understood that if everything goes to plan and Payero does join Boca permanently next year, Boro will recoup a signifciant chunk of the sum that was spent on signing the 23-year-old from Banfield last summer.

Banfield tried to re-sign their former midfielder earlier this summer, but were unable to agree a deal with the Boro hierarchy.

Payero arrived on Teesside amid considerable fanfare after presenting Argentina in the Olympics, but his season in England did not go to plan, with neither Chris Wilder nor Neil Warnock giving him much of a chance in the senior set-up.

Payero made 15 appearances last season, only seven of which were starts, with his only Boro goal coming in last October's 2-0 win at Cardiff.
