Chris Wilder and other members of staff will also been working on recruitment whilst in Albufeira with Boro looking to make a number of additions before the start of the season.
Wilder has said he wants at least three new strikers before the start of the season whilst a number one goalkeeper still remains a priority.
Boro will end their week abroad with a friendly match against Braga before flying home the following day.
Their remaining friendly fixtures will see them come up against Morecambe and Marseille before the beginning of the Championship season. They kick off at home to West Brom on Saturday 30th July for an evening kick-off.
