MIDDLESBROUGH will head out to their pre-season tour of Portugal tomorrow after their latest pre-season friendly against York City later this evening.

Boro take on the Minstermen for the second pre-season running at the LNER Community Stadium on a Friday evening.

Chris Wilder is expected to give game time to most of the players who have been training in the first-team squad in pre-season. However, there has been no update on the fitness of Martin Payero who missed last week’s game against Bishop Auckland through injury.

The Argentine continues to be linked with a move away from Teesside this summer with Banfield registering their interest to bring him back to South America.

Meanwhile, former Stoke City defender Tommy Smith is currently on trial and is expected to feature later this evening as Boro continue to run the rule over the 30-year-old, who scored in last weeks win over Bishop Auckland.

Boro will be out in Portugal for the week where they will end their trip with a pre-season game against Braga before heading back to home soil the following day.
