SUNDERLAND will carry out medical assessments on Carl Winchester and Dennis Cirkin under the hopes both will be available for Saturday’s game against Morecambe.
The pair were absent for last night’s 1-1 draw with Rotherham United at the Stadium of Light forcing Alex Neil to make three changes to his team.
Both Winchester and Cirkin have been a constant in the side under Alex Neil but the club are preparing for the eventuality of not having either for the trip to Morecambe.
The boss hopes to have answers in the coming days as he said: Dennis we're hopeful it won't be too long, with Winny we're still waiting on getting the scans back.”
Asked whether there were any other injury concerns from their hard fought draw against Rotherham United, Neil answered: “It’s too early tell for tonight.
“As I said before with Dennis, we’ll find out in the next couple of days whether he’ll have a chance or not. Winny, we need to get the scans back and see what it is.”
Victory on Saturday will ensure Sunderland a place in the League One play-off spots. Sheffield Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Fleetwood Town last night means they remain in the top six by a single point.
