DARLINGTON MOWDEN PARK will attempt to put more daylight between themselves and the National One relegation zone when they host Plymouth Albion tomorrow afternoon.
Mowden come into the game on the back of two vital home wins, which have seen them climb above Plymouth and Blackheath into 11th position in the table.
Central to those victories has been Paul Jarvis, who was also Man of the Match in the narrow away win over Leeds three weeks ago.
Asked about the importance of their recent wins, Jarvis said: “Going into the last two weeks, we knew they were huge games for us to come away with points.
"We left both games a little too close for our liking, but we've been able to pull some real positives from the performances and its highlighted a few points that we need to learn and adapt from.”
Jarvis’ side enjoyed a rare weekend off in Round 26, courtesy of Old Elthamians’ withdrawal from the league. Commenting on the timing of their rest week, the former Doncaster Knight added: “On a personal level, the week off came at a perfect time.
"It was nice to have a week to let the body rest up and refresh a bit and has now allowed us to ramp into this weekend with a bit more energy in the bodies.”
Tomorrow's game promises to be another tough test for Mowden, with Plymouth also looking to distance themselves from the fight at the bottom of the table.
Previous games between the two teams have largely gone the way of whichever side is at home, with Plymouth’s last win in the North-East coming six years ago.
Jarvis said: “We know Plymouth will come with a big set of lads and bring a confrontational style of rugby which we will have to dig deep to handle.
"They gave us a real hard time at their place and it was one of our most disappointing performances of the season, so we have a lot of wrongs we plan on righting this weekend.
"We are looking forward to a good game and hopefully we can impose our game on them.”
Tomorrow's game is the first of Mowden’s final four fixtures, a run of games that includes their much-anticipated Friday Night Lights fixture against Leeds Tykes on Friday, April 22.
Looking ahead to a busy final month, Jarvis added: “It's been a season full of ups and downs, and the end of the season has ended up being full of important games for us.
"Points are essential from every game now, and we plan to end the season on a real high.”
