BRUNO GUIMARAES will make his first Newcastle United start in this evening's premier League game at Southampton.
The Brazilian international, who joined the Magpies in a £35m move from Lyon in January, replaces Joelinton in the only change to the side that started last weekend's win against Brighton.
Joelinton is unavailable because of a groin injury, but the midfielder has travelled to St Mary's with the squad in the hope of being involved in Sunday's game at Chelsea.
Allan Saint-Maximin is not on the south coast, with the Frenchman missing out on the squad because of an illness that is not Covid-related.
Matt Ritchie returns to the squad after recovering from injury, but has to be content with a place on the substitutes' bench.
SOUTHAMPTON (4-2-2-2): Forster; Livramento, Bednarek, Salisu, Walker-Peters; Romeu, Ward-Prowse; Armstrong, Elyounoussi; Adams, Broja.
Subs: Caballero (gk), Stephens, Valery, Perraud, Diallo, Smallbone, Djenepo, Long, Armstrong.
NEWCASTLE (4-3-3): Dubravka; Krafth, Schar, Burn, Targett; Willock, Shelvey, Guimaraes; Fraser, Wood, Murphy.
