HARTLEPOOL United are living up to the slogan on their t-shirts and have demonstrated a ‘never say die’ attitude to come from behind in games according to match winning full-back David Ferguson.
The 27-year-old popped up on the edge of the box and drove a first time shot home in the second half of their 2-1 win over Harrogate. Pools had fallen behind in the first half as former striker Luke Armstrong opened the scoring before Luke Molyneux’s bending strike into the top corner brought them level. It’s the fifth time they’ve come from behind to win this season.
Graeme Lee’s side continue their purple patch in League Two with just one defeat in their last ten games as they climb into the top half of the table. However, they remain eight points off the play-offs.
Ferguson told BBC Radio Tees Sport: “It was a tough first half against the wind. It felt like it was downhill. To come back and win 2-1 just shows the character that we have got.

“Last season, there was some sort of stat that the previous manager used to say that once we conceded, we never come back. Lately every time we go a goal down, we just show that we have got that character.
“We’ve done it plenty of times this season where we’ve come back. When we played Harrogate at home. We were 2-0 down and we come back to win 3-2. I was on the goalsheet that day as well.
“Like I say, it just shows that we have got that good character.”
Molyneux, who is the club’s top scorer this season, extended his tally to nine goals for the season with an outstanding effort to bring them level after drifting in from the right hand side.

Ferguson was full of praise for his team mates brilliant goal but was happy to get the match winner on the day.
“Mols has scored a great goal. He’s done that a few times this season and he’s got that on lock to be fair so I’m pleased for him.
“It’s nice to get the winner because normally it’s me equalising.”
Pools return to action on Wednesday evening in the semi-final of the Papa Johns Trophy where they face Rotherham United at the Suit Direct Stadium.
