SUNDERLAND’S League One home tie against Burton Albion was suspended for 40 minutes due to a medical emergency in the stands.
Emergency services have tended to an unwell supporter in the west stand of the ground during the fifth minute of the game.
Fans around the ground waited patiently in their seats while emergency services tended to the supporter.
The players were led back down the tunnel shortly afterwards. Stewards cleared the area in the west stand by asking supporters to make their way into the concourse to ensure emergency services could safely transfer the patient from the seating area.
At around 8:35pm, the supporter was transferred from the seating area and the players resumed player ten minutes later.
