MIDDLESBROUGH are testing the waters on young forward Nicky Gyimah-Bio who is currently serving a trial period with the club.
The 18-year-old featured for Boro's Under 23's side in yesterday's Premier League Cup win over Queens Park Rangers where Toyosi Olusanya scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory at Heritage Park. He was given a place in the starting line-up.
It's not known how long the trial period will last but the young forward has attracted potential suitors for his signature in recent times.
Gyimah-Bio had a number of Premier League clubs watching him last season having come through the academy ranks at Peterborough United but he's yet to make a first-team appearance for them. German side Wolfsburg were also credited with an interest at the time.
Last season, he played a part in a run of FA Youth Cup games for Peterborough where he scored in the third round in a 2-1 win over Doncaster Rovers Under 18's. They would later go on to be beaten by Sheffield United Under 18's in the fourth round.
It's not known he is still with the Championship side or whether he is free to switch to Boro where it's likely he will link up with the youth side.
He signed for Posh at the age of 15 and is born to Ghanian parents.
Upon signing for Peterborough, Gyimah-Bio said: "I am so humbled to join a great club like Peterborough, I really just want to work hard and make my family proud, the academy is great and the coaches are amazing."
