SPENNYMOOR Town are showing plenty of ambition ahead of their league season as the club look to recuirt new players from the divisions above.
Moors are in the midst of their pre-season campaign where manager Tommy Miller is on the lookout for new players to join his squad.
They've made a strong start so far in their friendly fixtures with a draw against League One Sunderland and win over League Two Hartlepool United.
John Lufudu and Brad Abbott remain Moors only signings of the summer so far and Miller is keen to add to the growing number of talent in his squad by looking in the National League and above.
“The two lads I’ve brought in are very fit lads but very good footballers as well so they’ve added to the squad I’ve got" Miller told the Northern Echo after the 1-0 win over Hartlepool.
“I’m still looking all the time to get a few more in because I don’t think we’re the finished team just yet, no where near.
“But if I can get a few more in to add to what we’ve got then we’ll be alright.
“I’m speaking to a lot of players. I think a lot of players are holding out. They want to stay full-time.
“They like a structure in their life where they’re training from day-to-day but obviously we can’t offer that at the minute.
“What we can offer is a very good football team which is run the right way albeit part-time and going in the right direction.
“We’re looking in the National League, we want good quality to come in. We don’t want lads to come in and just make numbers up, we want to strengthen the team and by that I mean the one to eleven.
“We’ve got some good players here but we want to add to it and that’s what I’m looking to do.”
While the club is keen to add experience from the divisions above, Miller acknowledges that they are a number of players in his squad that have Football League calibre.
“Jason Kennedy has been great for me in pre-season. He trains well, he’s really well respected from the lads and he’s a great lad to have around.
“Carl Magnay playing tonight, he wasn’t 100% fit, he had a bit of bad groin. He got through the game and marshalled the back three really well.
“Rob Ramshaw gives you everything. His energy is ridiculous."
Moors opening game of the season is away to Boston United on Saturday 14th August.
