Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will not play for England at Euro 2020 due to a thigh injury.
The 22-year-old limped off in the closing stages of last night's 1-0 friendly win over Austria at the Riverside Stadium.
A scan earlier today confirmed the news and Alexander-Arnold has return to his parent club for rehabilitation.
As he was substituted in injury time at the Riverside, the Premier League and Champions League full-back looked uneasy as he trudged his way off the pitch assisted by England's medical staff.
Gareth Southgate has plenty of other options in the right-back position in Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier and Reece James but will have to consider how to fill the void left by TAA.
There was plenty of media speculation ahead of the tournament over whether Alexander-Arnold had done enough to make the final squad, but The Three Lions boss confirmed he'd given him the news three weeks before the announcement that he'd be involved.
Last night was the 13th international appearance for the 22-year-old.
England are next in action on Sunday at the Riverside Stadium in another international friendly against Romania.
