Michael Dods is eyeing a trip to Doncaster to take in the rearranged Achilles Stakes for his progressive sprinter Dakota Gold.
Usually held at Haydock, the Listed race has been saved and will be run on Sunday week on Town Moor.
Dakota Gold began last season finishing fifth in the Gosforth Park Cup, but he went on to win the Sky Bet Dash at York, the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon, another big handicap at York and two Listed races at York and Ascot.
“Dakota Gold will probably go to Doncaster for the five-furlong Listed race which is now changed to older horses, as long as the ground is decent,” said Dods.
“It’s difficult knowing what his aim would be as we don’t know what races there are, but it would be nice to go Listed then step up to Group Threes.
“He deserves a crack at decent races as long as there’s cut in the ground and I hope he can carry on the momentum from last year.
“We’re very happy with what we’ve got and I hope we can get going and they can show how good they are.”
