DARLINGTON MOWDEN PARK will attempt to build on last weekend’s opening win of the season when they host National One newcomers Rams RFC tomorrow afternoon.
Having suffered an opening-day defeat to Richmond, Mowden got their season up and running seven days ago when they trounced Hull Ionians 52-5.
Tomorrow’s opponents were promoted into National One last season, and have taken an instant liking to their new surrounds, beating Cambridge and Birmingham Moseley.
That makes them dangerous opposition, and Mowden head coach Garry Law has made three changes to the side that triumphed in Hull last weekend.
Ignas Darkintis, Dan Grange and Ben Dixon all step up from the replacements’ bench, with Connor Ward, Tom Marshall and Chris McTurk taking their place among the substitutes as they feature in the senior squad for the first time this season.
“Having picked up a couple of niggles from last week’s game, we see some changes to the squad,” said Law. “A couple of players have earned the well-deserved starts, and the chance to impress from the start.
“We have reviewed the Rams’ first couple of games, and know it is going to be a completely different task as against Hull. They are a well-drilled team, with a solid forward pack.
“The lads have trained well this week, and are looking to take the game to the Rams and get the first home win of the season and push things forward.”
Darlington Mowden Park (vs Rams RFC): Irvine, Walker, Frankland, Dixon, McCartney, Seals, McKirdy; Barron, Duffy, Darkintis, Craggs, Fisher, Grange, Stokes, Hodgson.
Replacements: Appleby, Ward, Marshall, Mackenzie, McTurk.
