Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB Premier League winners, Richmondshire now go on to represent the league in the semi-final of the Yorkshire Premier League Championship against Sheriff Hutton Bridge, with an 11am start at Hurgill Road.
Vice-captain Robert Carr said: “Mike Layfield is away this weekend, so Stu Mather comes back in. We are still buzzing after last Saturday, Marton were relentless in winning every week and had us in big trouble at one stage.
“Sheriff Hutton Bridge have some very good players who have represented Yorkshire, so this will be a good test for us. Our experience being National Champions, should stand us in good stead to cope with them and the prize of playing at Headingly the weekend after, is a massive pull and incentive.”
Club official Mark Layfield added: “I am really pleased for the lads themselves and for all those involved within the club. Our aim at the start of the season was to win the NYSD and have another good run in the National, and we did that. It's been another brilliant season again and all the people involved, should be very proud of themselves.”
The Dalesmen’s opponents play in the ECB Yorkshire Premier League North. They were champions this season and only lost two games out of 22 so they are clearly difficult to beat and will pose a strong threat to the NYSD champions.
The curtains close on the Dukes ECB NEPL Premier Division season, but the title race is very much alive. Leaders Burnmoor are in front, and they take on second-placed Chester-le-Street.
Burnmoor hold a 24-point lead and need just seven points to clinch the title ahead of the Ropery Lane showdown. Skipper Alec Linsley said: “It’s a huge game, our toughest of the year and one we will not take lightly.
“Obviously, I’d rather be in our position than Chester’s or South North’s, but the fact I’m mentioning us in the same sentence as those two NEPL giants shows just how far we’ve come. We will go in to the game knowing whatever happens, that we have had an amazing year.”
“However, it would be brilliant if we could lift the title. Our professional, Sami Niazi, took 9-33 last week and he will be fired up again.”
Whitburn welcome Hetton Lyons and skipper Paul Shields said: “Jack Burnham comes back after his Durham commitments. We go into last game of season in confidence after winning the last two league games in a row and in doing so, also securing our place in the Premier Division of NEPL.”
The visitors have one change, Vaibhav Tiwari is out and Gary Adey in.
Sacriston host Burnopfield. Craig Robertson is unavailable due to suspension and Graeme Wrightson misses out due to work. Mel Betts returns and they hope to have Matty Potts available.
In the Northumberland and Tyneside Cricket League, Lanchester are third and welcome relegation threatened Annfield Plain, in a must win game for both teams. Skipper Kieron Taylor said: “Chris Ramshaw drops down, for Cameron Metcalfe to come in. We will look to put last week's big disappointment behind us and finish the season on a high.”
Readers Durham Cricket League champions Easington end their season, with a home match against firth placed Durham City, who can finish fourth with a win. However, the title winners are unbeaten this season and have home advantage, so this will be a tough ask of City.
Horden host Seaham Park and visiting skipper Adrian Hedley reports: “We are unchanged and it’s an end of season mood in the camp. On reflection, the season has not gone as well as hoped, with the biggest disappointment being the recall of their professional, by his club back home.
“That seemed to remove the extra bite out of the team and though currently fourth, that is a little frustrating. We could and should have done better, would be the phrase on a school report!”
