DONALD LOVE’S three years on Wearside look to be over after reaching an agreement with Sunderland to have his contract come an early end.
The 24-year-old still has a year remaining on his deal worth around £450,000 but the Black Cats have come to an arrangement where he can leave now.
Shrewsbury Town are looking to hand him a quick chance to return to football and if he signs then he will face Sunderland in League One next season.
There has been other interest in the right-back but it is the Shrews at this stage leading the way for his signature.
Love moved to the North-East as part of a £5.5m double deal involving Paddy McNair from Manchester United when David Moyes was in charge in 2016.
He was part of the back-to-back relegations from the Premier League but has only played 34 times for Sunderland over his three seasons.
Love is believed to have already said his goodbyes at Sunderland and will not be involved against South Shields tonight inn a friendly that will see a strong squad head to Mariners Park.
