THE Darlington Primary Schools Football Association celebrated their 20th Anniversary recently with 170 boys and girls playing in the annual Champion of Champions finals at Eastbourne Sports Complex.

A total of 24 schools take part in the Boys League and 16 in the Girls League, with the winners and runners-up taking part in the end-of-season finals.

The winning trophies were presented to boys winners Abbey and the girls winners were St Georges, who retained the trophy for a second year.

Association secretary Paul Bielby said: “Once again we witnessed Darlington youngsters enjoying the thrill of representing their schools in competitive sport.

“In an exciting atmosphere with a large enthusiastic crowd the players will have proud memories of being selected to play for their school with their friends.

“It will build their confidence and encourage them to continue to play while staying fit and healthy.”
