A SENIOR golfer and self-styled ‘Lord’ has completed the rare feat of scoring a hole-in-one at every par three on his home course - The Prince Bishops at Ramside Golf Club.
Douglas Wright, 73, aced the 172-yard 15th hole using a seven-iron on Wednesday, March 6, to add to hole-in-ones at the club’s third, seventh and tenth.
The retired businessman took up golf aged 50 and has scored five aces in 23 years, including one at the 15th at Houghton-Le-Spring Golf Club.
He is known as ‘Lord Dougie Wright’ at Ramside after his family paid for the title deeds to a tiny piece of land in Leicester and the associated title of ‘Lord,’ as a gift to recognise his high levels of self-confidence.
Wright, said: “It’s an unbelievable feeling to have another hole-in-one and to have the full set of aces on the Prince Bishops’ Course. I took golf up late and I know that some people can play their entire lives and never have a hole-in-one. I may have to change my title to Lord of the Links.”
Helen Roseberry, director of golf at Ramside, said: “It’s always exciting when a member or guest has a hole-in-one but this is extra special because Dougie is one of most active senior members and a real character.
