Geordieland must surely end his long losing run as he takes a big drop in class for the Phil Bull Trophy Conditions Stakes at Pontefract.
The six-year-old has turned in some top-notch efforts since switching to the care of Jamie Osborne last year but his labours have yet to bear fruit.
After placing in the 2006 Goodwood Cup on his first start for Osborne, Geordieland has been a pretty consistent performer for connections.
Although he was slightly disappointing on his first two starts back after a disastrous run in the Melbourne Cup, Geordieland bounced back to his best when claiming second in the Yorkshire Cup.
Another clash with Yeats at Ascot saw him take the silver medal again, but Osborne could offer no excuses as he failed to capitalise on the absence of his old adversary at Goodwood.
Geordieland is evidently far from straightforward and although he travels well for much of the race, he can be caught out by a good one at the finish.
His defeat at the hands of Septimus in the Doncaster Cup last time illustrated that point, but against some less smart rivals this time, Geordieland really should be able to seize the initiative.
Geordieland's former stablemate Ella Woodcock comes into the Trinidad & Tobago Handicap on something of a roll after notching up four victories on the bounce.
Although scoring each of those wins in lesser company, new handler Eric Alston steps the gelding up in class with his confidence sky-high for this mile event.
Ella Woodcock has been creeping up the handicap with his series of wins, and although he had to fight hard for victory at Hamilton last time, the son of Daggers Drawn is a tough competitor who will take some passing.
Venerable is the obvious pick in the Arena Leisure Handicap at Windsor, but it may pay to side with the unexposed Watchful. This filly is a typical Luca Cumani end-of-season improver who won a slightly muddling maiden on her racecourse bow.
A slow early pace ensured it turned into a bit of a sprint at Goodwood that day but Watchful found plenty of toe to score a taking win over Unreachable Star. The handicapper has not been overly hard on Watchful and she is one for the shortlist.
Just Bond can put a slightly disappointing show at Haydock well behind him with a win in the wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Handicap.
