MIDDLESBROUGH have agreed a loan deal for Huddersfield Town midfielder Rajiv van La Parra.

The 27-year-old Dutchman travelled to Boro's Rockliffe Park training ground this morning, and is set to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours.

He will join Boro on loan until the end of the season, having found his opportunities at Huddersfield's John Smith's Stadium extremely limited.

Boro are also understood to have agreed a clause that will enable them to turn van La Parra's loan deal into a permanent transfer at the end of the season if his initial spell on Teesside is a success.

Van La Parra, who is a half-brother of Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, was a regular during Huddersfield's first season in the Premier League last term.

It has been a different story in the first half of the current campaign, however, with David Wagner having handed him just five starts in all competitions.

Van La Parra cannot formally sign until the transfer window officially reopens on January 1, so he will not be available for Saturday's Championship home game with Ipswich Town.

He could, however, be eligible to make his Middlesbrough debut in the New Year's Day game at Derby County.
