Yorkshire are at full strength for their final match of the season against Hampshire at Headingley Carnegie today, with captain Darren Gough knowing a miracle is needed if they are to emerge as county champions.
Innings defeats in two of their last three matches mean Yorkshire have dropped from top to fourth, and they trail leaders Lancashire by 16 points.
But Hampshire, one point adrift of Yorkshire, also feel they can lift the title if the miracle goes their way instead.
Gough, although still feeling discomfort from a stress reaction in his left shin, pronounced himself fit to lead Yorkshire following a strenuous work-out yesterday morning and the pace attack is further boosted by the return of South African Deon Kruis, who has missed the last four Championship matches.
Kruis proved his fitness by turning out for Yorkshire Phoenix against Derbyshire Phantoms on Sunday when he claimed career-best one-day figures of four for 17.
The player with most to prove, however, is former Pakistan captain, Inzamam-ul-Hak, who has been a bitter disappointment.
His two Championship outings have brought scores of eight, eight and 22 and it was only after NatWest Pro40 scores of nine and seven that he weighed in with a blockbuster 53 against Kent Spitfires.
Anthony McGrath requires a further 69 runs to complete 1,000 first class runs for the season.
Back at Headingley for the first time since leaving Yorkshire at the end of last season is Michael Lumb, who is still seeking his first Championship century for Hampshire.
Yorkshire: Vaughan, Gale, McGrath, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Rudolph, Brophy, Rashid, Bresnan, Gough, Hoggard, Kruis.
