DARLINGTON Mowden Park made it two wins out of two at home thanks to a 34-33 win over Rosslyn Park.
The win sees Mowden climb back into the top half of the table, just five points behind early pace setters Caldy.
Rosslyn Park scored 19 points in the opening quarter, stunning the hosts with with three in the space of ten minutes, but the hosts responded to level the scores at the half.
Asher-Wood got their first, profiting from a smart line from Garry Law to dot down under the posts.
Fellow South African Warren Seals added the conversion to reduce the deficit to 12, and Mowden's second came on 27 minutes, Jordy Hop slicing through the Rosslyn midfield and scoring out wide.
The scores were level when Asher-Wood’s chip ahead was gathered by Joe Duffy, who in turn found Chris Georgiou to score.
The hosts maintained their momentum at the start of the second half with a well-taken try for Warren Seals. The try was created by Chris Georgiou, who took a high ball before breaking clear to find his fly half Seals for the try.
Rosslyn Park hit back to level the scores on 55 minutes after an extended period of pressure. Mowden prop Jack Payne was sin binned for collapsing a maul, and the visitors took advantage as former DMP full back Henry Robinson found a way over in the corner. Lound continued an impressive day with the boot to add the extras and take the scores to 26-26.
Seals edged Mowden in front on 65 minutes with a penalty, before Frampton profited from a driving maul to put Rosslyn Park in front with 10 minutes remaining.
Benji Marfo was yellow-carded for killing the ball soon after, setting up a nervy finale for both sides, and with just 40 seconds left in the game the visitors looked to run down the clock inside their own half until Payne won a penalty for DMP at the breakdown.
The Australian took a quick tap and powered up to the 22, before the Mowden backline showed cool heads to go through the hands and release Josh Hall who raced away in the corner, much to the delight of the home crowd.
The dramatic finish was worthy of an end to end game, with a single point the difference between the two sides.
Asher-Wood’s early charge down turned out to be vital, and the South African was one of a number of players to impress on the day. Warren Seals was awarded man of the match after a strong all round display.
