JAMIE McCunney has impressed all at Hartlepool United since his summer switch from Dunfermline - but believes there is plenty more to come.
After starting every game at right back, McCunnie has switched into central midfield to good affect in his last three appearances.
That is where he spent the best spell of his time at Dunfermline last season, culminating in an appearance in the Scottish Cup final.
With Willie Boland and Antony Sweeney sidelined with hamstring problems, McCunnie has stepped up to the mark.
Pools have started the new season well and sit in fourth spot in the early League One table.
And McCunnie admitted: "It's an ambitious club. you know what it's like, when you are going to sign for a club everybody is going talk it up if they are trying to get you.
"But I decided to make the move and it was all agreed in five minutes once I met the manager.
"It's a club that is going places. It's quite a small club because you have got the big three in the Premiership round about.
"But if we keep playing the way we are and the manager is happy I'm sure we will win more than we lose.''
He added: "I feel I've settled in quite well, there is probably still a bit more to come - you probably don't hit your peak until you are seven or eight games into the season.
"So it's good to get off and running. Pre-season went well and the games so far have gone well.''
Tommy Wright is enjoying a new lease of life at Darlington after admitting personal problems overshadowed his first season at the club.
The 22-year-old striker was one of manager Dave Penney's first signings when he joined Quakers from Barnsley in January.
However, with problems off the field, Wright struggled to make an impact, scoring four goals in 13 appearances.
But after netting on three occasions already this season, the forward wants to repay the faith Penney has shown during some difficult times.
He said: "I had a few off-field problems last year with my parents breaking up. The gaffer had a word with me and told me that he knew what I was capable of.
"I worked hard in the gym during the summer and I just wanted to prove to him the reason why he brought me here.
"The gaffer has been absolutely brilliant with me and now I want to concentrate on my football and do well for him and Darlington."
And, while Wright has three goals to his name in seven starts this season, the forward believes there is still more to come.
"I'm really enjoying my football at the moment, although I would like a few more goals," admitted the former Leicester City striker. "I've not scored in the last three games but I've got three in seven."
