DURHAM'S treble-chasing squad, who hope to lift a second trophy by beating Glamorgan today, will remain intact next season.
That's assuming Michael Di Venuto returns under his Italian passport and Ottis Gibson accepts a coaching role with England in Sri Lanka this winter then returns for a final season with Durham.
They are confident both will be back, along with Kyle Coetzer, the only other player who is out of contract.
Mark Stoneman, currently on a development contract, seems certain to be added to the full-time staff with coach Geoff Cook saying: "He's always had the ability to hit the ball and now he's shown he has the temperament."
Producing top-three batsmen has been a problem for Durham and at the start of the season Stoneman and Coetzer would not have been the favourites to nail down places.
Cook said: "They have been excellent. Kyle has always had a terrific desire to bat and now he has shown he has the ability to move up a grade and take on some of the best bowlers in the country. He looks the part and thinks the part, in both forms of the game."
Little has been seen this season of Australians Callum Thorp and Mitch Claydon because of injury, but both will be back, along with Gary Scott.
The all-rounder has not featured in the first team this year after failing to find any form following a pre-season hand injury.
Spin is expected to play a bigger part in today's Sky-televised NatWest Pro40 division two match than in the championship win against Sussex.
The presence of the cameras means the game will be played in the middle of the square on a strip with less grass than the seam-friendly pitch which blunted Sussex.
Paul Wiseman and Gareth Breese are both expected to play, with Graham Onions and Mark Davies dropping out as Neil Killeen will also come in. Gordon Muchall and Ben Harmison will fill the middle-order slots.
Durham go into their final one-day game a point behind Somerset, who play Middlesex at Taunton.
With a promotion play-off available for the team finishing third, Middlesex do have something to play for.
Surrey, who visit Leicestershire, can also sneak into the frame, but Durham know that victory against the bottom club will take them up.
Durham: D M Benkenstein (capt), M J Di Venuto, P Mustard, K J Coetzer, G J Muchall, B W Harmison, G R Breese, O D Gibson, L E Plunkett, P J Wiseman, N Killeen.
