AFTER coming through last season's biggest away game with flying colours, Hartlepool United are hoping for more of the same tomorrow.
Last season, in League Two, Pools biggest day on the road was the trip to Darlington in March. Backed by almost 4,000 fans they won 3-0.
Tomorrow and Pools are at Elland Road to face Leeds United in a Football League game for the first time.
It's Pools closest away game in League One this season and, with only a handful of the 2,800 tickets remaining for away fans, a crowd of 30,000 is expected for the game between two of the division's form teams.
Both have started the season well, although Leeds remain on - three points after their summer points decuction and Pools in-form midfielder Gary Liddle is relishing the test ahead.
"It will be the biggest game of my career so far,'' he admitted. "They are expecting a big crowd and it will be a first for many people.
"This is the game everyone has been looking to.
"Last year it was Darlington and we managed to pull that one off and hopefully we can do it again this year.
"Everyone is looking at Leeds and Nottingham Forest as the big two in this division.
"Saturday's game is probably the two form teams in the division although they don't have the league position to show for it yet.
"We will go into the match full of confidence, as they will, but hopefully we can get something from it.
"There is nothing to fear going there.
"There will be a big crowd but if we can get our passing going and maybe get a few goals hopefully we can quieten them down.''
Liddle is likely to line up in central midfield alongside Ritchie Humphreys tomorrow, with both Willie Boland and Antony Sweeney sidelined by hamstring injuries.
Ben Clark is an option in the middle of the park after impressing on Tuesday.
Both Liddle and Clark paired up for Tuesday's 3-1 win at Chesterfield in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and he admitted: "It has been three games a week so far and another one to come on Saturday.
"It was a good result the other night and it sets us up nicely for the weekend.
"To be honest we were a bit disappointed at Chesterfield.
"We did so well in the first half but we let them back into it a bit in the second.
"We got a bit sloppy in the last 15 minutes and we need to improve on that building up for the weekend.
"We had a spell at the end when we kept the ball for a long time and it would have been the best goal in the world if it had come off!''
