DANNY Wilson will have his walking wounded available for tomorrow's Carling Cup tie at Sheffield Wednesday.
Wilson, a former manager at Hillsborough, saw Willie Boland, Richard Barker and James Brown suffer head injuries in Saturday's win at Port Vale. Boland was forced off after a head wound refused to stop bleeding, while Barker needed treatment after a clash of heads.
But all three will be OK tomorrow and Wilson admitted: "There's a few with head injuries - James Brown took a whack which the referee missed, Richard Barker took one and Willie Boland was cut as well. They are big side and sometimes you have to take the blows.
"There were just clashes of heads, nothing more. But they will be fine for Tuesday. Willie had to come off because we couldn't stop the bleeding and we couldn't get any stitches in when his bandage came off so there was nothing we could do.''
Wilson added: "Coming away from home is never easy and they are looking for their first points - we may have caught them at the right time. Their fans were a bit edgy.
"I think both goals were not clean finishes - James may have fooled the keeper a bit with it and Matty found that far corner, but they both ended up in the net.
"I don't think it was a classic performance. We dominated in the first half in all areas, but second half they threw men forward and it was more of a game.
"They had to show caution to the wind and we were forced to defend. They are a big side and you have to compete with them, we can when we need to.
"We opened them up at times and a lot of hard work goes in when you have possession to create angles and tempo, it's not easy.
"But we showed great pace and ambition to get in behind people and that's how we scored. The goals weren't clean strikes - but we came away with the points. What a great clearance that was from Godwin, he came through the game well and it was another tremendous performance from all the lads at the back.''
