LEAGUE One football will be a whole new experience for Hartlepool's Jamie McCunnie.
The right-back, who is equally at home in midfield, left Scottish Premier League side Dunfermline for Pools in a summer move.
He is ready to start the season in Saturday's opener at Luton Town after appearing as first-choice full-back in Danny Wilson's pre-season programme.
And the Scot, who appeared for the Pars in last season's Scottish Cup final against Celtic at Hampden Park, can't wait to get started and experience English football.
"It is going to be exciting and every week is going to be a new experience for me,'' he admitted.
"In Scotland you play teams four times a year and it can get a bit stale after a while. Down here it is going to be different every other week and there are some big teams in this league.
"I don't know much about them apart from their names but that is what is exciting, it is a totally new experience playing at all these different stadiums.
"I played as the holding midfielder towards the end at Dunfermline and I enjoyed it there, I would probably say that is my best position, but I think Danny sees me mostly as a right back.
"I know every player says it, but it is true, I am happy to play anywhere if it means I am on the pitch each week.
"If you are enjoying yourself at a club you tend to play well. I enjoyed the last six months at Dunfermline and I think that reflected in the way I played.''
McCunnie, 24, with 144 Scottish starts to his name after spells with Dundee United, Ross County and Dunfermline, added: "I am enjoying it so far at Hartlepool and the guys seem great, so hopefully we can keep that up and have a good season.
"The lads have a great run last year and everything at the club is geared up for success.
"There are no stars in the team, everyone is down to earth and they have been very helpful.''
