YORK CITY suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time since last November as they crashed to a 2-0 defeat to Chorley in National League North.

Gary Mills’ side were second-best for the vast majority for the afternoon, and fell behind midway through the first half.

Hamza Bencherif’s sloppy back-pass enabled Marcus Carver to win possession, and the Chorley striker squared for Josh Wilson to slot home.

Chorley goalkeeper Matt Urwin saved from Simon Heslop and Jon Parkin before the interval, but Chorley doubled their lead as Bencherif was once again at fault.

The York defender was caught out trying to play offside, and after the ball sailed over his head, Wilson was able to drive home his second goal from 12 yards.

Meanwhile, Mills has revealed Scottish winger Aidan Connolly has submitted a transfer request in an attempt to force through a move away from Bootham Crescent.

Connolly was not included in the squad for the Chorley game, with Mills saying: “He’s not happy, and that’s all I know. I wish he had told me how he felt before last Monday, because he wouldn’t have played then (against FC United).”

Of Saturday’s game, Mills added: “We got what we deserved – it was very, very poor from start to finish. We conceded a horrendous, diabolical first goal and never recovered from that. It set the tone for the day.”

York: Worsnop; Law, Bencherif, Parslow, Whittle (Sukar 46); Heslop (Muggleton 67), Smith, Newton, Morgan-Smith; Parkin, Rankine (Felix 55).
