After rejecting a new contract with Boro, the 24-year-old moves to the Midland's club on a free transfer.
A number of other clubs were interested in signing Parnaby, including local rivals Sunderland, Everton, Aston Villa and West Ham.
More in tomorrow's Northern Echo.
