Nicky Shorey has postponed his honeymoon after getting married tomorrow to play a part in England's vital Euro 2008 qualifier in Estonia next week.
Shorey will make his senior international debut against Brazil tonight, get married barely 18 hours later to fiancee Emily before linking up with the squad again on Sunday evening.
The Reading defender has been fast-tracked into the England squad after impressing for the B side against Albania at Turf Moor a week ago.
Injuries to Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge have presented Shorey with an opportunity at left-back against the Brazilians and he is determined to try and take full advantage.
Shorey said: "We booked the wedding last year and I didn't have a clue anything like this would happen.
"If the game had been on Saturday we would have had to postpone the wedding - but don't tell the missus that! Luckily the game is on a Friday.
"I'll play the game, shoot straight home afterwards, get up on Saturday morning, get married at 1.30pm, spend the day there and then join back up on Sunday night.
"We've postponed the honeymoon a few days. We're going to Mauritius. Emily has taken care of everything.
"This doesn't happen every day (getting picked by England) so you have to just try and enjoy it. Emily has been very understanding and supportive although a bit stressed lately."
Shorey admits he is surprised by his elevation into the England picture even though Royals fans have been urging Steve McClaren to pick him with their chants from the terraces.
He said: "I couldn't imagine this happening even two months ago. I haven't played for England at any age group until the B game last week.
"I've basically just gone straight into the main squad. I'm just thankful I've got this chance. The training has gone well. All the lads and the staff have made me very welcome and that's given me confidence.
"I didn't think about the senior squad until after the B squad had been announced because you don't want to even think about it before anything has happened but it's great to be here.''
* The Football Association have confirmed England will play a friendly against Germany at Wembley on August 22.
The match is the first meeting between the teams since the 5-1 win for England in Munich in September 2001.
