RYAN Sidebottom struck two early blows as the West Indies were reduced to 66-2 at tea in pursuit of England's first-innings total of 570-7 declared at Headingley.
The left-arm seamer, making his first Test appearance for almost six years, removed Chris Gayle and Daren Ganga in consecutive overs as England rammed home their advantage.
Both batsmen succumbed to lbw decisions, although Devon Smith (22) and Sylvester Joseph (13) rallied to restore some respectability before the tea break.
Earlier, Kevin Pietersen celebrated his first Test double hundred as England piled on the runs either side of the lunch interval.
Pietersen made 226, wicketkeeper Matt Prior was dismissed for 75, and Durham's Liam Plunkett hit an unbeaten 44 - his highest Test score - before Michael Vaughan called his players back into the pavilion.
