DAME N’DOYE is hoping to replicate the instant impact he made with Hull City when he embarks on his loan spell with Sunderland.

N’Doye’s four-month switch from Turkish side Trabzonspor was confirmed this afternoon, and while the 30-year-old will not be available for Saturday’s game at Tottenham as he completes the formalities of his work visa, he should be eligible for the following weekend's home game with Bournemouth.

Whether he can dislodge the in-form Jermain Defoe from the starting line-up remains to be seen, but having hit the ground running when he joined Hull last January, the Senegalese international is determined to add to his Premier League goal tally with Sunderland.

N’Doye, who will wear the number ten shirt on Wearside, scored three goals in his first five appearances for Hull last season, including a back-heeled strike against Sunderland in a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light, and his previous experience of playing in England should be a major benefit as he looks to assist the Black Cats’ attempts to pull away from the bottom three.

“I’m happy to be here,” said N’Doye, whose height and muscularity make him a different proposition to most of the attacking options currently on Sunderland’s books. “I spoke to the manager, and he wants to build a good team to stay in the Premier League.

“He is trying to build a good team. If he needs me then I hope I can reach my best form. It will be a good experience to play with a different team in the Premier League.

“There are good players in the Premier League, and it is a hard league. You have to be very concentrated to play in the Premier League, but scoring in the league is fantastic. It’s exciting, but we have to work hard to be ready.”

Allardyce is delighted to have made N’Doye his second signing as Sunderland boss – centre-half Jan Kirchhoff was the first – and admits the striker’s previous spell in England was one of the things that made his capture so appealing.

“Dame will bring something different to our forward options,” said Allardyce. “Having already played in the Premier League he should have no problems in hitting the ground running too, which is very important at this stage of the season.”
