JORDAN NOBBS will return to the England Women’s squad for this month’s double-header with Germany and Bosnia, but there is no place for Sunderland Ladies striker Beth Mead despite her impressive performances in the WSL last season.
Nobbs, who is from County Durham, has shaken off a hamstring injury and will expect to be involved in the friendly in Germany on November 26 and the opening Euro 2017 qualifier at home to Bosnia three days later.
Wearsider Steph Houghton retains the captain’s armband after successfully skippering England to third place at this year’s World Cup finals, and the squad also features Sunderland goalkeeper Rachael Laws as well as North-Easterners Lucy Bronze, Demi Stokes and Jill Scott.
England boss Mark Sampson said: “2015 has been an amazing year for the team and out supporters, full of special memories for everyone involved.
“To end the year with a match in Germany, one of the biggest tests in women’s football, and then the team’s homecoming in Bristol against Bosnia is a fitting way to mark such a big year for the game.”
