Stuart McCall believes Neil Warnock has taken charge of his final match as Sheffield United manager.
The Blades were relegated from the Barclays Premiership after losing 2-1 to Wigan at Bramall Lane, which saw the Latics leapfrog their opponents and stay up with a goal difference just one better than their rivals.
McCall, United's assistant boss, believes Warnock has had his last game in charge after turning down the club's latest contract offer recently.
McCall said: ''Neil has a meeting with the chairman in the next 48 hours and then we'll see what happens at Sheffield United. "From a personal point of view, I thought that if we did get relegated then it would be Neil's last season at Sheffield because of what he has achieved.
''It wouldn't surprise me if that was the gaffer's last game in charge.''
The Blades' relegation was doubly cruel and was compounded by West Ham's survival, the Hammers having escaped with a £5.5million fine for irregularities over the signings of Argentinians Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.
The former Rangers, Bradford and Everton midfielder believed the Blades had been on the receiving end of some bad luck, although he was quick to credit West Ham.
McCall also refused to condemn Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez and Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson after they fielded weakened sides against Fulham and the Hammers in anticipation of the Champions League and FA Cup finals.
''Hand on my heart, I don't think the supporters, staff and players think we deserved to go down.
''However, I think that credit has to go to West Ham's players and manager. They've won seven out of their last nine games."
