Wigan manager Paul Jewell has admitted he is getting ''fed up'' with all the talk of West Ham's off-the-field misdemeanours and claims it will play no part in the build-up to his side's crucial must-win match at Sheffield United tomorrow.

Victory would guarantee Wigan's survival in the Barclays Premiership and could condemn the Blades to the Coca-Cola Championship but any other result and they go down.

However, most of the headlines surrounding the game have concentrated on the Hammers' record £5.5m fine rather than a points deduction for contract irregularities in the signings of Argentina stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

The Latics are one of the 'Gang of Four' - the others are Sheffield United, Fulham and Charlton, who have threatened legal action against the Premier League in the wake of the independent disciplinary commission's ruling.

However, Jewell said had tried to distance himself from the furore, which was starting to get on his nerves.

''It is getting a little bit boring. I'm a little bit fed up with it really. It is something that I don't take too much notice of,'' he said.

''It hasn't deflected attention away from the game as far as I'm concerned because whatever happens in a court of law isn't down to me because it is out of my jurisdiction.

''It hasn't been mentioned once on a training ground. The reason we are third-bottom is we have not been good enough in 37 games previously. It is not down to West Ham's situation it is down to us.

''Whatever I think are the rights and wrongs of the decision it doesn't matter. What matters is we go and win on Sunday. I don't want to blame West Ham or the Premier League for being bottlers, the situation we are in is down to us completely.''

Jewell is under no illusions as to the task ahead of his side at Bramall Lane.

''The last thing we want to do is concede a goal early on. We have to be sensible," he said.
